roxie versus the machine

Dave recieved a new remote control helicopter for Christmas, and Roxie promptly broke it. But there was a bit of fun inbetween.

snowed in

It finally happened...St. Louis got some snow. It has been a very relaxing day off. Roxie and I played a little (she loves the snow), laundry is done, house is cleaned, papers are graded. I feel real good about the progress.

And also today, I had a doctor appointment. I treked the 45 minutes, driving 40 on the highway to the doctor's office. She said that the baby sounds great!!!! The only thing is that I have not gained a single pound. In my first trimester, I lost one pound, and have still not gained it back. We go again in four weeks for the big ultrasound, and I am hoping that I have something of a belly. I am still am not showing anything noticeable.

The doc was funny. She kept saying you need to gain weight, and this is the only time that I am looking forward to it. I have the maternity clothes on standby...waiting to be worn.

update on baby

Things have been going really, really well since I have entered my second trimester. I have told all the teachers and students at school. I told them by setting a bag of pacifier candy on their desks reading, "Surprise Mrs. Whitlock is going to have a baby". Here is a picture. They loved it and are really excited. They cannot wait to see me get fat.



Personally, I wish I would just get bigger. I am feeling very fat right now, but Dave keeps saying it doesn't look like I am showing at all. That is why there are no pictures yet. I look the same from Christmas, so that's what your stuck with. Next week, we go to the doctor again to hear the heartbeat and get a check-up...but start counting down...we are only

1 month from today from finding out...is it a girl or boy. I am really excited!!!!!

I will post pictures when I begin to show. Maternity clothes...here I come.

We celebrated Christmas with Dave's side the day after Christmas, and the entire weekend, by making a great trip to Our Lady of the Snows in Belleville, IL. There we celebrated Dave's grandma's 80th birthday. Here are a few pictures from the event...

This was a terrific Christmas...Dave and I recieved more than we imagined and even the baby recieved a bunch of gifts. From maternity clothes to scrapbooking supplies, it was really exciting. Here is a picture of mom, Gene, Dave, Roxie, and I on Christmas Day at my mom's house.

One highlight of the night was my little cousin, Michael, wearing my new black boots and trying to walk in them. If only we had a video camera going, it surely would have made it on America's Funniest Home Videos.

Still growing...

Our little nugget is now the size of a lime!!!!

Dave and I had a doctors appointment yesterday and was able to hear the heartbeat of the little one for the first time. We were also able to record it. My aunt gave us an ornament to put a picture of the ultrasound in it, but it can also record a message. The doctor said that she has seen some crazy things be brought in to record the beating, but never an ornament. We are scheduled for February 27th to have the big ultrasound...if it is a girl or boy.

I am 11 weeks today and feeling good, but still very tired. Roxie and I are about to go take a nap.
Hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas and was able to relax. I get less than one week to take as many naps as possible until I go back to school. And trust me, I am taking advantage.

We're expecting....

As of December 4th, the baby was 1 and 1/2 centimeters. As of today, I am almost 10 weeks and the baby, as far as we can tell (by all the websites), it the size of a rasberry.

Dave and I have not posted for a while for a reason...we only have one huge thing to talk about...

We are expecting a little nugget in July. I am currently 2 months (8 weeks) pregnant.

We went to the doctor last week and she said that everything could not look any better. My hormone levels are great, and now that we have passed the miscarriage stage, we are ready to tell everyone. We told both sides of the family over Thanksgiving, and most people around St. Louis knows, thanks to my mom telling everyone she comes in contact with. We are going to put the ultrasound picture up, but the scanner is currently down. It will be on the computer soon...keep checking back.

Finally.

Tonight a dear friend of the family passed on...Kim Leadford. She was basically my 2nd mom growing up. My mom would watch her three daughters and myself in the morning for the school bus, then after school, I stayed at the Leadford house. I was like thier daughter...on the chore list, celebrated holidays together, and had fun doing all kinds of crazy activities. She was one of the sweetest people I have ever met. She died at 50 years of age, today (Saturday) November 15th, at 2 p.m. My mom has been spending many hours sitting and caring for Kim with her husband Ron, and the three girls, Lauri, Molly, and Joanna. OUr prayers go to the family, and I am asking for you to also pray for them. They need the Lord's support and guidance through this difficult time. You will be vary missed, Kim!!! But we all know that you are happier now.
